What You Can Expect:
New Volunteers need to attend both days of training and pass a Live Scan/background check to become a certified NVADG Volunteer. The 16-hour training is considered “awareness” training and you’ll be able to work in the small animal shelter during an evacuation.  The small animal shelter is where we usually need the most number of people!

We will be encouraging you to attend additional training throughout the spring.  This is more “operational-level” training, covering NVADG functions and deeper animal handling skills.  These trainings will give you a better understanding of all the elements of disaster animal response.  You may find a niche that really interests you, too!

When we are activated, it can be for Butte County or as mutual aid for other counties.  We have had multiple years without any activations, and years with many activations.  What we ask of you is that you be ready for an activation.

But even without activations, our volunteers have work to do!

Year-round we provide educational outreach, and everyone is encouraged to help out!  We attend events and meetings to explain to people the importance of being prepared to evacuate, and to evacuate with their animals.  We also have year-round need for volunteer help with administrative tasks, facilities clean-ups, inventory stocking and more.

Volunteering with North Valley Animal Disaster Group is a rewarding activity.  We hope you will join us!

The cost for training is $21.65 which includes a uniform shirt and is due when you register.  At training you will pay for the cost of your Live Scan and notary, which will cost $67.  You’ll pay that direct to the Live Scan company at training.

Then plan to come to training Saturday and Sunday, January 20 and 21, 2024!
