About North Valley Animal Disaster Group

North Valley Animal Disaster Group (NVADG) is a Butte County-based volunteer Community Animal Response Team (CART) organization. We are a 501c3 non-profit. We are activated by Butte County to respond during disasters to shelter, evacuate, search for, and shelter-in-place animals from the evacuation zone. Our volunteers also do public outreach at community events, talking with residents about having a plan in place to evacuate with their animals.

Our organization has hundreds of trained volunteers, a significant inventory of equipment, growing technology, and complex demands that call for an effective donor development program.  Our staff are all part-time, hard-working and dedicated to our mission.

Duties include:

  • Maintain and increase annual contributions from existing donors, organizations and foundations.
  • Research and identify high-capacity donors and motivate them to support NVADG’s work with gifts of $5,000 or more annually.
  • Recognize, plan for and execute donation strategies from current incidents and events.
  • Develop and submit focused grant requests to appropriate foundations and businesses, including grant budgets, project specifics, and other grant related documents.  Upon successful award, assure funds are used and accounted for correctly, and outcome reports are sent on time.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of key information in our Bloomerang Donor CRM.
  • Assist in estate planning discussions with potential donors.
  • Pursue continuing education and knowledge of 501c3 requirements, best practices and current trends in donor development and fundraising.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, oversee and post appropriate social media and website communications.
  • Plan and execute annual communications calendar.
  • Oversee preparations for annual fundraising mailings.
  • Assist with photography that documents the impact and value NVADG provides to our community.  Assure we have pictures that tell our story for social media and grants.

Essential Duties that must be successfully performed during the first four months:

  • Understand what differentiates NVADG from other organizations and develop language that gives a clear picture of why someone should donate.
  • Revise our Case for Giving and create a communications calendar.
  • Increase general monthly donations received through PayPal, either through reactivating lapsed donors or activating new donors.
  • Identify and meet with at least 3 potential large donors.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Three years minimum of successful direct, hands-on experience with Donor Development. Be prepared to articulate the steps you took and the outcomes. Bonus points for experience with volunteer disaster response or animal rescue.
  • Demonstrated success writing high quality grant proposals and success securing funding, with examples of complete grant management.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently with organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and follow up.
  • Attention to detail while overseeing multiple projects and grants simultaneously.
  • Competency with technology, CRM databases, photo editing and email marketing platforms.
  • Writing skills must be professional, concise and descriptive.

The successful candidate will be required to attend 2-day New Volunteer training Saturday and Sunday, January 17 and 18, 2026.

Salary: $35 per hour to start, 20 hours per week average.  This is a non-benefited position.
